He taught a lecture and laboratory course in Veterinary Entomology for 24 years and he had Extension responsibilities for medical and veterinary entomology over the past four years. Alberto built a successful and highly productive research career at K-State in the biology of insects, ticks and mites of veterinary and medical importance and in the application of such knowledge to strategies for managing populations of these pests… documented in hundreds of publications and presentations… Some of Alberto’s noteworthy research accomplishments… development of a trap for the screwworm fly… key findings on the biology and ecology of stable flies in confined cattle operations… numerous findings that helped with the management and control of cat fleas…recently describing the biology of an “itch mite” introduced from Europe into the Midwestern U.S….Clearly, Professor Alberto Broce’s research, education and outreach programs have had a significant impact on Kansans, citizens of the U.S., and people throughout the world.” President Wefald, April 15, 2008.
